BYD Projects Significant Profit Growth in Q1 2025 with Record Sales

BYD has forecast a net profit of 8.5 to 10 billion yuan for Q1 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 86.04 percent to 118.88 percent. This growth is attributed to strong performance in the electric vehicle sector, with the company setting new records for both domestic and international sales. In March, BYD sold 377,420 vehicles, with 371,419 units being passenger cars, reflecting a 23.1 percent increase. The company also reported a 59.81 percent year-on-year growth in Q1 sales, surpassing 1 million units. Additionally, BYD holds a 33.2 percent market share in China’s electric vehicle sector in 2024.

Kering Beauty has appointed Nathalie Berger-Duquene as CEO of Creed, the luxury fragrance brand it acquired in 2023. Berger-Duquene, who has over 25 years of experience in the beauty industry, will assume her new role on May 6, succeeding Sarah Rotheram. Previously, Berger-Duquene held senior positions at Estée Lauder, L’Oréal, and LVMH, overseeing brands like Tom Ford Beauty and Lancôme. At Kering Beauty, she will report to Raffaella Cornaggia and will be based in London.

China Duty Free Group (CDFG) reported a 16.3 percent decline in revenue to RMB 56.47 billion in 2024, with a 36.44 percent drop in net profit to RMB 4.27 billion. The decrease was attributed to market conditions and industry cycles. Despite a decrease in sales, CDFG’s market share in Hainan’s duty-free sector grew by nearly 2 percentage points. For 2025, the company plans to expand its operations in Hainan, improve domestic store networks, grow international business, and promote online sales development.
